Be Well 2/4 Notes

The monthly Be Well session held on 2/4 was full of some great discussions, ideas, and resources.

How to reduce gas when you are new(ish) to plant-based eating: try taking Beano before meals, keep a food journal to see if any specific foods are the cause of gas, introduce beans and lentils into your diet gradually, use kombu when cooking dried beans, and find out more on the subject here.

Check out Lucky’s Coffee Shop on 202 for a veggie omelet on black beans, hold the eggs, hold the cheese. Tell them Bruce sent you.

Pizza by Elizabeth’s sells dough for $3.00 that you can use to make your own vegan pizza at home. Miyoko’s brand of mozzarella cheese was recommended. The group likes the idea of having a Miyoko’s tasting and at an upcoming Be Well.

One participant shared that she’s lost 70 lbs and no longer takes the 5 medications for blood pressure, cholesterol, and GERD she was taking just a year ago since adopting a plant-based diet. She mentioned Mary’s Mini as a key to her success.

And, here is the video for the 4 minute workout we did. The Joy of Movement by Kelly McGonigal, PhD was recommended as a great resource for learning what science says about movement and inspiration for getting going!
